New Years Day Ride 2002

Crash, sporting the latest in stocking cap/helmet combination attire (dashing, isn't he?).

Before the ride, a quick look at the tracks on the half-log bridge shows that the local wildlife has been utilizing the trails.

Dave negotiates the bobsled run - a gully of banking descents, covered in fall leaves, covered in slippery snow.

Steve gracefully pulls his bike back onto the trail ("I meant to do that").

Rita bounces over rock ledges while carrying a huge log on her back.

Michele skirts the edge of the trail, showing her amazing ability to ride on (frozen) water.

Greg pulls out of a steep climb, impressively maintaining traction all the way.

Steve tried to follow Greg. . . . . .But success was not in the cards for this young hero . . .

. . . nor for Crash, who lived up to his name a few more times this rode.

Steve "is that a camelback under your jacket or are you happy to see me" Frye, doing what he does best: chatting trailside.

Greg tries the jump at the top of the climb, but the slippery wood throws him.

Steve manages to stay on the bike over the jump, but ends up off trail.

Greg leads Steve by several lengths - it's almost like this trail was in his backyard. Sorry, I just couldn't get over the hat.

Dave wonders if it's snow or cold, sticky marshmellows all over the trail.

Scott tests - the hard way - if there is any ice on the bridge.

Steve's bike, aka Treebeard, happy to be seen exiting the bridge.

Really, they aren't mocked up stills - click to see Greg ride the bridge.
(quicktime may be required)

Around the fire, Steve talks and Dave holds his head in disbelief.

Greg pouring hot cider for his lovely wife Pam and the kids while the dog is giving funny looks at Steve's bike.
