Western Loop 2001

We continued on right out of the park to the Rockefeller National Parkway, where we stopped to ask a ranger for some weather info. The ranger also told us about "the best kept secret for camping" - several practically back country sites up Grassy Lake Road. We said we'd go look for them, where would we register? He said they were free, and recommended site 4 or 5 - oh, and these are in grizzly country, okay? Use the bear-boxes for storage.

We headed up and found site 4 to our liking. No neighbors, but did have an outhouse. There was even pre-cut wood, but with the fire danger, we never started a fire.

We sat on our private beach and read, watching the grasses across the Snake River play in the breeze, then went up to our campsite and cooked spaghetti with our stolen parmesan, and got some sleep. The next morning we decided we liked our private site so much, we'd stay another night, and left the tent up while we headed into Jacksons Hole.
